Our travertine and marble French pattern tiles are a top seller. French pattern is also known by other names, like ‘Versailles’ and ‘Ashlar’ patterns. It is a distinctive style of patterning that uses four different sizes of tiles to create a bolder and unique look to any outdoor hardscape.

Tiles and pavers are typically installed in a monotonous and rigid way that results in a geometric look with straight grout lines. This can make any patio or deck look boring and ordinary, but it can work if you do not want it to become the main attraction of outdoor space. Temperatures are more moderate now and materials dry and settle faster.  Here at NT Trading, the Fall season is our busiest time for selling travertine and porcelain for outdoor projects. Since the trend is clearly on “larger scale” pavers called LFT or Large Format Tile.  This refers to tiles that are bigger than 12×12. Larger size porcelain tiles are durable and come in a variety of colors and textures. The larger the tile the less grout needed; it makes for a cleaner, more seamless look.

We offer the 32”x32” Italian porcelain tile which is sleek and elegant. Another huge seller is our 20”x40” porcelain paver, also 2cm, that comes in ten earth tones.

How is Lapitec made?

Lapitec is a form of sintered stone. To create it, only the best ceramic materials are selected and then bonded together under extreme heat and pressure. This method, called metamorphosis, is a recreation of a natural process and results in a product like no other. The stone is 100 percent mineral and no resin or hydrocarbon-based binder components are used.

It’s also a completely green product, no petroleum-based substances are used to create it. Moreover, it is totally inert and will, therefore, release no substances into the air. Many natural stones, such as granite, naturally contain radioactive materials. Although this is nothing serious, it does mean a small amount of radon gas is admitted, you don’t have to worry about this with Lapitec. In the unlikely event, you decide to get rid of your Lapitec hearth or flooring, you can easily recycle it.

How long does Lapitec last?

How long is a piece of string!? Lapitec is designed to stand the test of time. If you’re buying a Lapitec work surface, don’t be surprised if you never buy another work surface again. It is incredibly hard-wearing and near impossible to damage. It is resistant to scratches, impact and acidic substances. Normal stone can be permanently damaged by a few drops of lemon juice left on the countertop, but not Lapitec.

Lapitec is also resistant to sudden changes in temperature, so it doesn’t scorch after a hot pan is left on its surface. Nor will it catch fire, as it is non-flammable.

The stone also uses Biotech technology, which is designed to tackle bacteria and create an anti-bacterial and anti-fungal surface. Essentially, micro-organisms decompose safely on the surface, so all you need is soap and water. It is a non-porous material and will absorb nothing. Lapitec will not change or fade and UV light has no effect over time. Lapitec is available in many brilliant colors and thicknesses.

This marble is quarried in Turkey in the city of Afyon. The material has been used extensively as a building product for literally thousands of years.
